Americans bag top honours at Cannes

The 64th Cannes Film Festival that concluded this Sunday lived upto its prestigious and glossy reputation as celebs turned out in their finest and rubbed shoulders with cinematic greats from other countries.

Here's a look at this year's winners -- on the red carpet and off it too.

Best Actress- Kirsten Dunst (Melancholia)

Actress Kirsten Dunst, who stars in Lars Von Trier's apocalyptic film Melancholia, was awarded the Best Actress trophy for her role in the film.

Dunst chose a beautiful white Chanel Haute Couture dress from the Spring/Summer 2010 collection. She accessorized with Chanel jewels and vintage Valentino shoes.

 

Palme d'Or - The Tree of Life

Bill Pohlad and Dede Gardner

The Brad Pitt-starrer won the topmost honour and the prize was recieved by the producers -- Bill Pohlad and Dede Gardner of the film as its camera shy director Terrence Mallick stayed away from most of the public events at Cannes.
