What made Amitabh Bachchan cry
Amitabh Bachchan tweeted that he cried when he watched his new release Aarakshan at its premiere in Mumbai on Thursday. But it wasn't the film that brought tears to his eyes.
'The first public showing of "Aarakshan" .. and I have cried throughout .. not because of the film ..yes the film does have those moments too .. but because an art form of such intense creativity should be kept away by banning it in certain States of this our beloved country. I stood, as did all of us at the beginning of the show when the National Anthem was played, and sang along with perhaps a handful of others in the sincerest of emotion and belief in an anthem that brings all of us to our feet in respect dignity and most importantly, our pride,' he tweeted.
He also questioned the government. 'Without any knowledge of what the film contains, without any desire to determine the trust and the most basic principles of law of democracy, it has merely strengthened my and many others' fear of the weakness it conveys of our belief in governance and its ethics,' he wrote.
Bollywood condemns ban on Aarakshan
Celebrities used twitter to show their disappointment at the ban on Aaraskhan.
Farhan Akhatar tweeted: 'For the record. I am against the ban on Aarakshan. I hope better sense will prevail and that it will release in all states asap.'
Director Punit Malhotra tweeted: 'Aarakshan is banned in 3 states... Shocking!!! Hearing the most ridiculous debates on various tv channels. Its not even an argument... Just plain stupid, illiterate politicians.'
Roshan Abbas wants art to be discussed through film. 'Btw art was always created to be discussed debated deliberated upon..so why ban Aarakshan! So we can't make movies on issues ever??' he wrote.
Divya Dutta tweeted: 'Instead of banning films n hookah bars!can t govt pls look into t scams all over! bmc, adarsh! 2g! cwg! Can we hav sme ban on tem pls?'
Photographer Atul Kasbekar also criticised the ban. 'Every big movie release has d inevitable rabble rousers looking 4 their 15min of 'Andy Warhol'. Pity we've become an intolerant myopic lot. I saw #Aarakhshan'. Thot Jha gave a balanced view of both sides of d reservation coin. If anything d film rips into d pvt coaching classes!' he wrote.
Pooja Bedi can't understand the fuss about the film. 'Really don't know what the big fuss over aarakshan is all about!! Its got topic of reservation as a backdrop not focal issue in second half!' she wrote.
As for Manoj Bajpayee, he is praying for the film. 'So much problem aarakshan is facing before the release.I pray that it gets released in every state,' he tweeted.
Are you ready for Force?
The trailer of John Abraham and Genelia D'Souza starrer Force is finally out.
Ritiesh Deshmukh loved the promo. 'SUPER PROMO- DO WATCH IT-Good Luck- John, Genelia, Vipul, Nishikant' he tweeted.
Force is an action love story of a rebel cop who believes that the only way to remove crime is through bullets and not handcuffs. The film is directed by Nishikant Kamat.
