Bollywood condemns Mumbai attacks

Bollywood fraternity expressed their shock over the blasts that rocked Mumbai last evening on Twitter.

Shah Rukh Khan tweeted, 'En route india and mumbai...I am devastated and saddened by the loss in my city. May Allah bless us..want to be there as quickly as possible,'.

Priyanka Chopra was also among the outraged ones. 'im so saddened by whats happened in mumbai.. my heart wrenches at the though of what the families of the victims r going thru..its so wrong. why do we have to always accept this terrorism..why r we always told to move on.. I WONT STAND FOR TERROR ANYMORE..and i WILL NOT FORGET! i wish i was back in my city to share this grief.. MUMBAI MERI JAAN..!!!!!' she tweeted.

Arbaaz Khan, on the other hand, suggested violence for violence. 'Another dastardly and cowardice act by the terrorist to take innocent lives and disrupt the calm and peace of mumbai, his mayhem has 2 stop. Killing of one innocent is like killing all of humanity. Terrorist are not humans. Acts of terrorism are not human errors. Terrorist are inhuman bastards who have no place in civilized societies. State should tackle terror with terror. An eye for an eye,' he updated.

Bipasha Basu tweeted: 'In d garb of resilience v keep forgetting incidents lke this again n again! Its sad as noone is evr punished!Loss of life hs bcome a joke! We keep condemning acts of terrorism and that's where the story ends everytime and repeats again!Its a shame!'

Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan expressed anger. 'Feeling sad, angry and helpless!I pray for the families of the victims. On a resilient note, I need to believe that der r some good leaders, some good men in position of power out there in the govt 2 guide this city, to do d right thing without getting entangled in the web of politics! Wherever u are pls come forth and fight for this city! Rectify the wrongs!show us the way!the common man needs assurance that u exist!! My MUMBAI needs YOU.... NOW!!' he wrote.

Shabana Azmi wrote: 'I'm sick in the pit of my stomach. What a terribly terrible dastardly act.'

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, 'The bombs did not just drop from the skies ! A human, like one of us put it. One of us who breathed and lived in Indian air. Get him!'.

Stars pray for victims of the blasts

In the blasts that took plave yesterday, 18 people were killed and over 140 injured. Several stars tweeted their prayers for the family of the victims.

Amitabh Bachchan was among the first ones to tweet. 'prayers ! And more prayers ! Is that all we can ever do in situations like this .. ? Feel helpless and frustrated ...!' he tweeted.

Mallika Sherawat tweeted: 'i started usin twitter after the 08 attacks to feel closer 2home whn i was away frm MotherIndia. my prayers4 all those effected :-( Jai Hind.'

Karan Johar insisted that we don't rely on resilience. 'Prayers are strong but cannot replace accountability...resilience cannot be considered as back up!!!' he updated.

Hansika Motwani also sent her prayers. 'Heart aches wen u see al dis.we try n forget d past n thy revive al over again! Prayers 4 those affected and healing for the bereaved. Be safe,' she wrote.

Riteish Deshmukh asked fans to stay home. He wrote: 'Shocked to hear the news of the Blasts- Prayers for all who have suffered. And Be safe and stay home.'

Music composer Vishal Dadlani tweeted: 'Prayers with the families of those affected. God bless us all. This is the world we have created.Love and Peace are the only real solutions.'

Events cancelled after the attacks

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was in Delhi to receive an award from the French government but the event was canceled in the wake of the blasts.

The 37 year old actress was to accept the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres), and was accompanied by family including hubby Abhishek Bachchan and father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan.

Amitabh tweeted: 'We are in delhi for the decoration of aishwarya by French.. we cancelled event !!'

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Bhatt also canceled their events. Shah Rukh was supposed to release the first look of Don 2 while Mahesh Bhatt was set to celebrate the success of his film Murder 2.

Stars criticise Media

The stars were of the opinion that the video footage and graphics from the scene of blasts was disturbing. Stars tweeted their concern about how the event should have been covered.

Neha Dhupia wrote: 'Enough said and absolutely nothing done... Sick and tired of the breaking news, the media address, the false promises!!! #angry !'

Sandhya Mridul too wasn't happy with the coverage of news channels. 'Between barkha's overacting and some other chics complete lack of emotion can't bear to watch the news yet want to know.. Frustrating!' she tweeted.

Rahul Bose felt Media is provoking people to get angry. 'slowly tv channels ramp up the hysteria. journos on the ground are encouraged to air angry voices. will we never learn,' he updated.

Whereas author and columnist Shobhaa De was disturbed with the pictures in newspapers. 'Shocked nd sickened by gory photographs in dailies. Whatever happened to self-censorship and basic decency? Mediawallas or vultures?' she wrote.
