The rains have always played a pivotal role in Hindi cinema.

Monsoon, also widely hailed as the season of romance, is upon us.

And apart from steaming hot cups of tea, books, pakoras and conversations, we have the glorious movies to keep us company.

Here's looking at the most memorable rain sequences from Hindi films that we've seen recently.

Aashiqui 2

One of the most talked about sleeper hits of 2013, Mohit Suri's Aashiqui 2 featured Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor as an ill-fated loved up couple.

This rain sequence from the hit song Tum hi ho struck a chord with many fans.

Saawariya

Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor's debut film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed Saawariya featured a rain sequence with the actor in a passionate embrace with his object of affection.

Hum Tum

Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan's tempestuous chemistry in Kunal Kohli's much loved romantic comedy Hum Tum culminates in a heartwarming dream sequence.

In said sequence, the couple is seen giving into their feelings for each other for the first time.

And finally, who could forget the fun ride that is Aaj rapat jayen, featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Smita Patil in Namak Halal?
