Bollywood turned to Twitter to pay tribute to Yash Chopra, who passed away on October 21.

Shah Rukh Khan, who stars in Chopra's last film Jab Tak Hain Jaan, tweeted: 'Whenever my loved ones depart...I feel a part of me extinguishes itself with them. Will there come a day  that I will no longer have a bit of myself to let go of? And then the thought follows...that every time they have taken some of me with them onto their last journey , I have found a fragment of them left inside me too...I will always have some love to give and I will always be both emptied and replenished by the loved ones I lose. I keep u with me Yashji and I miss u too Yashji...lots.'

Karan Johar tweeted: 'Very few children get the opportunity to be fathered twice in one lifetime...yash uncle gave me that privilege...i miss u so much yash uncle.'

Dilip Kumar: I have no words to express my grief

Legendary actor Dilip Kumar, who worked with Yash Chopra in the film Mashaal, tweeted: 'Shattering, hard to accept. Yash was more than a friend, a brother. I am numb and have no words to express my grief.'

Shabana Azmi tweeted: 'Yashji!!!! How could you go? On your 80th birthday we wished for u to make 80 more films..its heartbreaking. Deepest condolences to d family.'

Shobhaa De wrote: 'How very apt. Yash Chopra worked "Jab Tak Hai Jaan"'. No other epitaph required for such a full, rich and warm life.'

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who had a long association with Yash Chopra, tweeted: 'Mere bhai mere mitra ,cine jagat ke mahan director aur film maker yashji aaj humare bich nahi rahe. Film jagat ki ye bohot badi haani hui hai,ishwar yashji ki aatma ko shaanti de. Pamela bhabhi aur chopra pariwaar ke dukh me hum mangeshkar sehbhaagi hai.'

A R Rahman tweeted: 'Respect, love and admiration for Yashji and his legacy ..may God bless his soul!'

Amitabh Bachchan, who also paid tribute to the veteran filmmaker on his blog, tweeted: 'I never ever thought there would come a day when I would have to say - " Yash Chopra no more " .. He went away too soon !! Yash Chopra - 44 years of association .. of creativity, friendship, fun and family ties .. each moment so vivid even now .. gone !! Just back from his studio where he lies still and motionless .. this was the first time I ever saw him on his back in 44 yrs !!'

Anupam Kher tweeted: 'My mornings will never be the same. My learnings of life will never be the same. LOVE never be the same. And cinema will NEVER be the Same. Yash ji was my anchor, my quiet strength & my father figure in Mumbai. Never realised when our relationship shifted from films to Family. In 2012, lost four Closest people in my life. Sridevi, who worked in two of Chopra's films Chandni and Lamhe, tweeted: 'Deeply saddened by the shocking news of Yashji passing away, he was full of warmth & affection whenever we met, he will be missed forever.'

Madhuri Dixit, who starred in Chopra's 1997 film Dil Toh Pagal Hai, tweeted: 'Just got the news that Yashji passed on. He was one of the giants of cinema. My deepest condolences to his family. We will all miss him.'

Priyanka Chopra wrote: 'Ab Mohabbat ka Bhi dil toot Gaya... RIP Yashji.. Thank u for always being so kind to me..thank u for showing us what love should be.'

Boman Irani tweeted: 'Saddened and numbed! Oh Yash Uncle...we will miss you!!! If you asked him for a favor, he would be the one following it up. Then when you thanked him, he would fend it off with a joke..everytime!!!'
