Anjali Menon, the writer-director of Manjadikkuru, won the award for best screenplay at the Kerala state film awards recently.

The announcement was followed by widespread campaigns from various quarters, calling for withdrawing the honour.

Turns out, Manjadikkuru was sent to the censors in 2007 and the film was shown at the International Film Festival of Kerala in 2008.

The film was released in theatres last year, where the censor certificate had a "revised" tag that was removed later on.

Anjali now says that her film never received the censor certificate when it was originally submitted and the revised label was removed when she got permission from the national level. She claims that Manjadikkuru is to be treated as a 2012 release.

With the whole industry up in arms against him, only Vinayan could have done this.

His recently released film, Dracula 2012 3D is apparently a hit.

The film has been panned by critics for its lack of a proper script and ridiculous narration, but the film's crowd-pleasing masala elements 3D effect have managed to draw the viewers in theatres.

Undeterred, Vinayan is all set to come back with another 3D film titled Little Superman, which will be for children.

If nothing else, the man should be appreciated for his courage to take on the entire Malayalam film industry
