6 things you DIDN'T know about Juhi Chawla

Juhi Chawla with Madhuir Dixit on Koffee With Karan

A reigning star of her time and now poised to make a comeback with Gulaab Gang, Juhi Chawla let us in on some of her life's lesser known stories on Koffee With Karan's latest episode.

Wonder why Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla making a joint appearance on Koffee With Karan was such a big deal?

They co-star in Gulaab Gang after all.

You should really ask a 1990s kid.

Both leading actresses of said decade, Madhuri and Juhi catered to similar demographics, but never looked eye to eye in real life.

Now in their 40s, the actresses will be seen in a film together for the first time ever and yes, that'll be a big deal too.

On Koffee With Karan, Mrs Nene and Mrs Mehta laughed off talk of cold vibes they shared in their heyday even as they seemed cautious and kinda on edge in each other's company.

Their disposition was decidedly different from each other -- where Madhuri seemed self-conscious and all too predictable with her answers, Juhi's winsome smile -- that didn't waver even through difficult questions -- and disarming candour were the show's highlight.

A look then at some lesser known facts that Juhi revealed about herself on the show.

Salman Khan

Juhi, who has worked with Rishi Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar among other big stars has never made a film with Salman Khan.

Salman and she haven't even interacted with each other at filmi dos.

'Sometimes it seemed like he used to look right through me,' Juhi said, seemingly puzzled.

2. The cold war that lasted five years

Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla.

Juhi and Aamir Khan worked in several films including Tum Mere Ho and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke after their first blockbuster, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

Trouble cast its shadow on the pair during the shoot for Indra Kumar's 1997 romantic comedy Ishq.

Fed up of being at the receiving end of all the pranks Aamir pulled on her, Juhi decided she had had enough and didn't turn up for the shoot.

Aamir did not confront her, he was miffed as the day's schedule had to be canceled.

Five, six years after the incident Juhi picked up the phone and asked Aamir if she could drop by.

'I didn't go to him before because we all know how serious Aamir gets when he is angry and he didn't approach me because he thought I was still angry about the pranks,' Juhi explained on KWK.

They set things right and have been cordial with each other ever since.

Last year they attended the 25th anniversary celebrations of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

3. Why Gulaab Gang happened and Dil Toh Pagal Hai didn't

Juhi Chawla in Gulaab Gang.

Early on the show, Juhi admitted she made some irrational career decisions that other actresses benefited from.

She also confessed she was, in some ways, insecure of sharing screen space with Madhuri Dixit earlier, explaining why they never worked together before.

When Yash Chopra offered her a role in Dil Toh Pagal Hai, she didn't take it up because she didn't want to play second fiddle to Madhuri. Karisma Kapoor then played the girl silently in love with Shah Rukh Khan.

'I rejected the villain's part in Gulaab Gang when they first approached me. But then I figured it'd be quite interesting to play a negative character if it was pitted against Madhuri,' she explained why she signed the film.

Sridevi.

While Madhuri, quite reluctantly, said she admired Sridevi, Juhi was in full-blown fan girl mode.

She was in awe of Sri, she said, and admired her work in Chaalbaaz, Chandni and Lamhe.

Juhi revealed the story behind her courtship with husband Jay Mehta.

While she didn't reveal how or where they met, she mentioned that businessman Mehta, who also co-owns the Kolkata Knight Riders IPL team with his wife and Shah Rukh Khan, swamped her with gifts, cards and flowers until she relented and agreed to go out with him.

And what's the one thing she would love to change about her husband?

'His hair!' Juhi exclaimed, laughing.
