This time, she plays mathematical genius Shakuntala Devi.
The much-awaited trailer is out and Vidya seems to have nailed her part perfectly.
The three-minute long video is not only entertaining and dramatic, but also high on energy and sass, courtesy Vidya.
It takes us on a whirlwind journey and introduces us to Shakuntala Devi's life.
As a child, Vidya's character is fascinated with numbers. She moves to London and earns the tag of 'Human Computer'.
Shakuntala Devi becomes a force to reckon with, but in her personal life, she struggles to have a normal relationship with daughter Anupama (Sanya Malhotra). Or for that matter, her husband (Jisshu Sengupta).
Shakuntala Devi feels why be normal when you can be amazing.
But she's not just amazing. She is also bold, daring and unapologetically herself which makes Vidya's character inspiring and exciting too.
While Vidya shines throughout the trailer, Sanya Malhotra stands her ground.
Her look is refreshingly new and her scenes with Vidya are intense.
It is a visual delight to see these actresses share screen space for the first time.
Amit Sadh has a blink-and-miss appearance in the trailer. He plays Sanya's husband in the biopic.
Directed by Anu Menon, the Shakuntala Devi trailer looks promising and Vidya definitely stands tall because of her magnetic personality and acting chops.
