Will Mission Impossible 4 impact Don 2?

Two action biggies Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Don 2 are releasing within a week of one another -- MI4 on December 16, and Don 2 on December 23.
But Farhan Akhtar [ Images ] has no trepidations on that score.
"Weirdly, Don released in the same year as Mission Impossible 3," Farhan said. "I don't think people tire of a genre. People love watching movies. I've been a fan of action films since I was a kid. I'd go and see Mission Impossible 4 on Friday, and then watch Don 2 the following week."
Interestingly, Farhan met Tom Cruise [ Images ] last weekend when the Hollywood star was visiting Mumbai [ Images ]. "What was nice was that Tom gave all of himself to every person he spoke to. When Anil Kapoor [ Images ] introduced him to me, he said he knew my work," Farhan added.
"Don 2 is an escapist film," he continued. "I only hope to entertain people. I want to give them something to take home. I feel Don 2 has come together really well. Writing Don 2 gave me the chance to write an action thriller the way I perceive it. I had the luxury of audiences knowing the characters. So I can go straight to the story after the first five minutes."

Don 2 is written by two young people, Amit Mehra and Amrish Shah, who are huge Salim-Javed fans. "They had tremendous enthusiasm to write the screenplay. When we started, I was busy shooting for Karthik Calling Karthik [ Images ]. So I'd give them the ideas and they'd go back to write and come back with a lot written material," Farahn said.
