Which Malayalam film will you watch this week?

Malayalam cinema hasn't produced any big films in the past few months

This could change, as four films are scheduled to hit the screens today (January 23).

Here's looking at the releases.

Mili

Director Rajesh Pillai changed the conventional pattern of narration in films with Traffic.

In his current release Mili, Amala Paul plays the title role.

She plays an introverted girl, whose life changes after she meets Naneen (Nivin Pauly).

Mariyam Mukku

James Albert, who scripted the fantastic Classmates, makes his debut as director with Mariyam Mukku.

According to the director, it’s a love story between a fisherman, played by Fahadh Faasil, and debutante Sana Althaf.

Picket 43

Prithviraj plays Hareendran Nair, a soldier in Major Ravi’s Picket 43, posted on the border.

In the snow-clad hills, he begins an unlikely friendship with a Pakistani soldier on the other side of the border.

Bollywood actor Javed Jaffrey plays the Pakistani soldier.

Rasam

Varuna Shetty and Mohanlal in Rasam

Indrajith plays the lead in director Rajeevnath’s Rasam, which is about food.

A major attraction of the film is a cameo by Mohanlal.

The film was shot in one of the Gulf States
