June 06, 2018 14:48 IST

How Bollywood spent World Environment Day.

Bollywood did its bit on World Environment Day, June 5.

While one top star had an unusual message, others cleaned Mumbai's filthy beaches.

Others celebrated the day.

At an event on Juhu beach, Varun Dhawan had this to say: 'I have spent many evenings on the beach, playing cricket or enjoying golas with my friends. It pains me to see the state of affairs today.'

'Versova beach is an example of how beaches can be cleaned if people put their mind to it. It's time to make a beginning. I want my newborn niece to play on Juhu beach, like we used to as kids,' Varun added, alluding to his brother Rohit Dhawan and sister-in-law Jaanvi's baby girl who was born last week.
