Watch! Karan Johar, you've never seen him like this

Last updated on: January 17, 2017 14:35 IST

When Hitesh Harisinghani (Text, Videos) went for the launch of Karan Johar’s book, An Unsuitable Boy, this was not what he had expected.

It was like a Karan Johar film.

There was a beautiful set with a massive chandelier, much like that single stunning piece of statement jewellery, which keeps demanding your attention.

There were handsome men – Shah Rukh Khan, Siddharth Malhotra and Manish and Punit Malhotra – and beautiful women – Alia Bhatt, Gauri Khan and Shweta Bachchan.

There was laughter, frivolous chatter and serious dialogue.

Only, this was not a Dharma film.

This was the launch of Karan Johar’s autobiography, An Unsuitable Boy, co-authored by Poonam Saxena.

And, in typical KJo style, the newly minted author did not shy from discomforting questions.

Take a look at what happened when – this narrative is part of the book as well – when a fan clicking a photograph slapped him on his shoulder and asked if he was “homosexual”.

But Karan no longer shies away from uncomfortable situations; in fact, he even presents them in his movies.

He was willing to comment on the breakdown of his friendship with the woman who used to be one of his closest buddies, the actress who had to make a guest appearance if she was not starring in his film.

His lucky mascot.

Kajol.

"Enough is being said since the excerpts of the book have been out. I don't want to say any more about the fact that we had great history and I want to remember this history that we shared; this is a part of 20-25 years of friendship. Yes, sometimes chapters end, books end and relationships end."

Karan has his own dreams, of new relationships that he is now ready for.

It left Shah Rukh Khan feeling he -- SRK the superstar that is -- had finally ‘arrived’ in life.

But he did have a suggestion for Karan. Find out what that is by watching the video below.
