Vishal Dadlani has composed a Punjabi song for free in Hai Marjawaan, the Hindi version of Gurinder Chadha's upcoming film Its A Wonderful Afterlife.

The Bend It Like Beckham director wanted a a good Punjabi number to suit the theme of her film, which is all about a punjabi wedding and stars Shabana Azmi, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Goldy Notay in the lead.

Chadha and Shabana were desperately looking out for a punjabi number, since the film is based on a Punjabi family. They finally approached Dadlani.

The composer, known for his music in Bollywood hits like Jhankaar Beats, Om Shanti Om, Salaam Namaste, Bachna Ae Haseeno and Dostana, was more than happy to do the song.

He went a step further and did the song free of cost for the director.

Shabana plays a serial-killer in the movie, who is desperate to get her plump daughter married. She tries various methods to trap prospective suitors but when they reject her daughter she takes her revenge by killing them.

The film is releasing in India on May 7.
