Vipul Mehta wins 'Indian Idol 6'

Vipul Mehta, a Mass Communication graduate, won the sixth season of singing reality show Indian Idol which came to an end on Saturday night.

There were three contestants, all from Punjab – Vipul Mehta, Devendra Pal Singh and Amit Kumar -- in the fray during the finale.

Vipul walked away with a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh, a Nissam Micra car, and a Suzuki Hayate bike.

Vipul, who learnt Indian classical music from the age of eight and is a Mass Communication graduate, wants to make a career in sound engineering.

He was a finalist in another singing reality show `Voice of India' (season 2).

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and actress Kareena Kapoor were present for the final to promote their upcoming film `Heroine'.

Indian Idol season 6 was judged by Asha Bhosle, Anu Malik, Salim Merchant and Sunidhi Chauhan.
