After a break of five years, television actress Smita Bansal is back on the small screen with Balika Badhu. The actress was earlier seen in Amanat and Sarhadein.
After her marriage to Ankur (of CID fame), Smita went on a maternity break. "God has blessed us with a lovely girl Stasha. I wanted to spend more time with her. Now, I have my in-laws to look after her, so I decided to resume acting," says Smita.
Besides Balika Badhu, Smita is also playing a significant role in Satish Kaushik's Karzzzz. "I play Pinki, Himesh Reshammiya's sister. Though the length of my role is not big, it is significant to the story," says Smita. "I have been lucky that I never had to run after people for work. I was approached for Balika Badhu and T-Series came up to me for Karzzzz.
"In Balika Badhu, I play Sumitra, whose son marries a minor girl. In the serial, I go through a lot of problems during my marriage and in my sasural. The story is about how I treat my daughter-in-law and ensure that she does not suffer the way I did. Thankfully, I have understanding in-laws," says Smita, who shares her own Rajashtani connection with the soap, as she hails from the state. "The first few episodes were shot in Rajasthan and I had a lovely time there.
