AXN is set to introduce an Indian version of Minute to Win It come January. The channel currently airs the American version of the show at 10 pm.
The show, which enjoys an almost cult status in several countries, gives contestants an opportunity to win Rs 1 crore if they perform a series of simple and exciting tasks within the span of a minute.
Contestants will be presented with simple challenges like picking up paper bags of different sizes with your mouth or knocking over empty cans using a Yo-Yo tied to the waist. On completion of the first task, the contestant will win Rs 1,000 and advance to the next level. After successfully completing the first, fifth and eighth level challenges, the contestant is guaranteed to leave with no less than the cash award for those levels. The difficulty of the challenge progressively increases.
Rohit Bhandari, senior vice president, AXN & Animax said, "We are evaluating the cost and other important things; everything will be clear in a week. The shooting is expected to start by the second week of December, and it will premier in mid-January next year. "
"We are looking out for a right studio in India and abroad," said a source. "By the end of the month we will get a clear picture whether the shooting will happen in India or abroad."
MTV host Nikhil Chinappa and TV anchor Ayushman Khurana are among those who have been approached to host it.
"We have approached three-four of them to host the show, but it's premature to talk about them. Nothing is confirmed," Bhandari said.
The channel has begun calling for participation. Registrations are open till November 21.
Considering that participants do not require any special skill set and will be given time to practice, Minute to Win It could be an easy route to a crore.
