Tusshar Kapoor becomes father to a baby boy

Tusshar KapoorTusshar Kapoor has taken on a new responsibility: he has become the proud father to a baby boy.

The 39-year-old actor has named the little bundle of joy Laksshya.

Laksshya was born last week through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and surrogacy.

Speaking about his newly-embraced fatherhood, Tusshar announced on Instagram: 'I am thrilled to be a father! The paternal instincts in me have been overpowering my heart and mind for some time now.

'Therefore, I am thrilled beyond words to have Laksshya, now the greatest source of joy in my life. By the greatness of God and the excellent medical team at Jaslok, parenthood is an option for many, who choose to be single parents.'

His parents Shobha and Jeetendra Kapoor stated, 'We could not be more excited to be grandparents to Laksshya, and are completely supportive of Tusshar's decision. This is certainly a tremendous blessing, and an exciting time in our lives.

'Tusshar is a wonderful son, and he has proven with responsibility, independence, and kindness that he will be a great father to Laksshya."

Dr Firuza Parikh, director of IVF and Genetics at the Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, led the treatment.

As soon as Tusshar announced the news, his friends from the industry took to Twitter to congratulate him.

Karan Johar tweeted, 'Am so thrilled to hear this news @TusshKapoor ...huge congratulations and all my love.....bless the family with the best years ahead.'

Farah Khan wrote, 'Congratulations @TusshKapoor on becoming a father.. Not everyone has your courage..god bless ur lil Angel.'

Sophie Choudry tweeted, 'This is so amazing!! So Thrilled for you T and can't wait to meet the little one!!! God bless @TusshKapoor.'
