School life becomes a memory when we move on to bigger milestones in life, but they have a huge deal to do with who we become when we grow up.

They say our most impressionable years are spent in school, learning some of the earliest life lessons, as we navigate our way outside the protective confines of our family.

We celebrate Teacher's Day by looking at some of the schools Bollywood stars went to.

 

Shah Rukh Khan, St Columbas School, New Delhi

 

Before he became Bollywood's Badshah, SRK excelled as a student at academics and sports in St Columbas School in New Delhi.

He studied economics at Hansraj College before he made his way to Mumbai.

 

Salman Khan (The Scindia School, Gwalior)

 

Scriptwriter Salim Khan's eldest son was enrolled in the Scindia School in Gwalior. Younger brother Arbaaz followed suit.

Salman later enrolled in St Stanislaus High School in Bandra, close to Galaxy Apartment, where the Khans live.

 

Kareena Kapoor (Wellhams Girls School, Dehradun)

 

Kareena attended Jamnabai Narsee school in Juhu, Mumbai, followed by the Welham Girls School in Dehradun -- a posh boarding school for girls located in the foothills of the Himalayas.

 

Sanjay Dutt (The Lawrence School, Sanawar)

 

The Lawrence School, Sanawar, is located in the picturesque Kasauli Hills near Chandigarh.

SanjuBaba studied there as did photographer Dayanita Singh

Other notable starry alumni: Filmmakers Shaad Ali and Apoorva Lakhia, actresses Neena Gupta and Pooja Bedi.

 

Priyanka Chopra

 

PeeCee, who changed several schools as a child thanks to army doctor parents, moved to the US at 13 to attend schools in Newton, Massachusetts, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

La Martiniere in Lucknow was among the many schools she attended in India.

 

Kangana Ranaut

 

Kangana, who was born in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, did her schooling at DAV Public School in Chandigarh, above.

 

Shahid Kapoor

 

Shahid attended the Gyan Bharti school in New Delhi, above, before he enrolled in the Rajhans Vidyalaya in Mumbai.

 

Preity Zinta

 

Preity studied at the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Shimla, above, where she did well in studies and sports.

 

Amitabh Bachchan (Sherwood College, Nainital)

 

The Big B is clearly the most distinguished alumnus from the Class of 1958 at the Sherwood Boarding College in Nainital.

Kabir Bedi, Ram Kapoor and Dalip Tahil are other former Sherwoodians in Bollywood.

 

Aamir Khan, John Abraham, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor (Bombay Scottish School, Mumbai)

 

Established in 1847 by Scottish missionaries, Bombay Scottish boasts of big Bollywood names among its alumni.

Aamir Khan, John Abraham, Hrithik Roshan, Ekta Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan (for a bit), Tusshar Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor all went to Bombay Scottish.
