Shah Rukh Khan has extended his best wishes to close friend Karan Johar on becoming a parent via surrogacy.

Karan announced on Sunday that he was blessed with twins -- a girl and a boy -- via surrogacy. The filmmaker has named the children Roohi and Yash.

"We wish him happiness. It's still very personal. So don't think I am being cagey by not answering about it. I have had this moment in my life so I know how personal it is. Let's respect it and leave it to that. We will have love, celebrations, happiness and health later," Shah Rukh said at the Mijwan charity fashion show, where he walked the ramp with Anushka Sharma.

Shah Rukh and wife Gauri had also opted for surrogacy for their third child, AbRam, three years ago.

Celebrities like Sushmita Sen, Kiran Rao and Farah Khan, who attended the charity event, also expressed their happiness for Karan.

"When Karan and I went on Sajid's (Khan) show (Yaaron Ki Baarat), I said that it's high time Karan had kids either through adoption or surrogacy. So I am very happy. It's fabulous news," Farah said.

Sushmita, who is a single mother to two daughters, said, "I am very happy for Karan Johar. He said in an interview once that he has a nurturing quality. I am sure he will be a great parent."

Kiran Rao, who also had a child via surrogacy, appeared clueless about the news when asked for her reaction. "I am delighted. What can I say? I didn't know about it. Karan deserves every happiness in the world. It's wonderful. I am very happy."
