Dhanush's Seedan

January 29, 2010 11:36 IST

Dhanush is on a high. Among the Pongal releases, it is his Kutty that is doing well at the box office.

His last three Tamil films -- Yaradi Nee Mohini with Nayanthara (remake of Selvaraghavan's Telugu hit Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule), Polladhavan with Divya Spandana (an adaptation of Bicycle Thieves) and Padikathavan with Tamannah were all commercial successes. That makes four hits in a row for the actor.

Now he is back with Seedan. Newcomer Ananya is the heroine. The others in the cast include Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Vivek, Ilavarasan, Ponvannan and yesteryear heroine Sheela who is back after a long gap.

The film is directed by Subramania Siva, who earlier made a commercially successful Thiruda Thirudi with Dhanush and a dud Yogi with director Ameer in the lead.

Seedan is produced by "GoodKnight" Mohan who has produced more than 40 films in Malayalam films with Mohanlal, Mammooty, Dileep and Prithviraj. Some of his popular films in Malayalam include Spadikam, Kilukkam, Iyer The Great and Kaalapani. He has also produced films in Hindi, like Gardish, Kabhi Na Kabhi and Chandni Bar.

Music is by Dhina, while Srinivasan, a former associate of camera man P C Sreeram handles the camera. Jackson is in-charge of art direction.

A massive set resembling an ancestral Tamil home has been erected at Prasad Labs in Chennai where shooting is currently underway.
