May 29, 2012 10:07 IST
Nagarjuna in DamarukamOf late, Nagarjuna has been acting in different genres of films. In the last year the superstar was seen in Gaganam (a song-less thriller) and Rajanna (where he made an entry into the film 40 minutes after the film began).

Now he playing the Shirdi Sai Baba in a film directed by K Raghavendra Rao, and an asura in Damarukam which is written and directed by Sreenivasa Reddy.

Anushka stars with Nag in Damarukam, a socio fantasy produced by Dr Venkat of RR MovieMakers and presented by K Atchi Reddy.

In Damarukam Nagarjuna is an asura who gets up after a deep sleep of 1000
years and wants to fight the gods. It would be interesting to see the battle between the gods and the asuras given the advances in technology now.

The film has a huge star cast comprising Ganesh Venkatraman,  Prakash Raj, comedians Brahmanandam, M S Narayana,  Raghu Babu, Krishna Bhagawan besides Brahmaji, Jiva and others.

A big-budget film, Damarukam is technically sophisticated with liberal use of computer graphics. Nagarjuna has said it is a first-of-its-kind movie in his career.

Devisriprasad scores the music, Chota K Naidu is the director of photography, Ashok is the art director and Gautham Raju, the editor of the film.

Damarukam is scheduled to release some time in July.
