First Look: Mummy & Me

Last updated on: January 19, 2010 12:12 IST

Director Jithu Joseph's Mummy & Me, a Malayalam musical family entertainer stars Kunchacko Boban (whose recent film Gulumaal-The Escape was a hit), Archana Kavi of Neelathamara fame, Mukesh, Urvashi, Lalu Alex, Shari and Janardhanan.

The film looks deep into the mind of a teenage girl and her relationship with her mother. The shooting of the film is currently underway at Kuttikkana.

Jithu has earlier directed Detective, with Suresh Gopi in a double role. The film was a thriller and surprised everyone with its genuineness. He says a director should not be trapped in a particular genre, and that is why he came up with Mummy &Me.

Archana Kavi, who shot into fame with Neelathamara, plays the heroine in Mummy & Me. Versatile Urvashi known for her powerhouse performances, is doing the role of her mom, while Mukesh plays her dad. If you remember Urvashi and Meera Jasmine's mother and daughter film, Achuvinte Amma was a huge hit.

Archana says that after her maiden movie in which she played a maid, this character is an easy one. But it was when the shooting began that she realized how complex her role was.

Mukesh has just completed In Ghost House Inn, the third part of the In Harihar Nagar series. He says that his character in Mummy & Me is that of a mature dad, who handles the situation in his family very well.

Mummy & Me is being produced by Joy Thomas Shakthikulangara and will hit the theatres this April.
