First Look: Mohanlal in Ranjith's Spirit

The grapevine had it that everything was not really hunky dory between Mohanlal and writer-director Ranjith, after the flop show of Rock N' Roll. But they decided to bury the hatchet and come together once again to make Spirit.The shooting of the film is currently going on in Kochi. The title has created a certain buzz. Ranjith says that "though alcoholism is one of the topics here, it is also about a positive spirit. Then there is a novel that is being written by Mohanlal's character, the title of which is also, 'Spirit'."Mohanlal plays the divorced man. His close friends include his ex-wife Meera (Kaniha) and her current husband Alexy (Shankar Ramakrishnan). Tamil actor Prakash Raj was initially chosen for the role of Alexy but backed out at the last minute, and Shankar Ramakrishnan, who wrote the script of Urumi, replaced him.Spirit is being produced under the banner of Aashirvad Films. The cinematographer is Venu and the music director is Shahabaz Aman.
