The cast and director talk about Allah Ke Banday

After playing a college student in 3 Idiots, Sharman Joshi takes on the role of a gangster in his next film, Allah Ke Banday"It is based on true stories. It's about two slum kids. I hope you will like the film and the performances," the actor said at the launch of his film in Mumbai.

Allah Ke Banday also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Atul Kulkarni, Anjana Sukhani and Rukhsaar. First-time director Faruk Kabir acts in the film as well.

Sharman and Faruk play brothers, who take to crime at a very young age. Naseer plays a police official, who straightens up juvenile criminals and trains them to be a part of the society. Atul plays a schoolmaster, who voices against the atrocities done by the duo.

At the launch, the media was quick to compare the film to Slumdog Millionaire, which also had two slum children as the protagonists. "This story has evolved from my personal research," Faruk claimed. "It has no comparison with Slumdog. But I will take that as a compliment. Slumdog was made on a big budget and did very well. Mine, on the other hand, is a small budget film. Mine is more intense and real. It tracks the journey of what happens to these kids."

The film's theatrical promos will hit screens this Friday, and the film will release on October 30.
