Get your lowdown on what's going on in the world of Bollywood.

Surveen Chawla's first full-fledged Bollywood role in Hate Story 2 is getting a good response but the actress says she was initially sceptical about doing the film.

Surveen, who did a small appearance in Sajid Khan's Himmatwala, feels newcomers prefer to get launched opposite big names.

"It was not an ideal film to make your debut in the industry. Generally, people opt for big banner and A-listers opposite them to make their first onscreen appearance.

"When these parameters don't get fulfilled then responsibility on your shoulder increases. I had the liberty of either grabbing the opportunity or leaving it," Surveen said in an interview.

Hate Story 2 released last Friday, and is doing well at the box office. TV actor Jay Bhanushali starred opposite Surveen in the film while Sushant Singh played the antagonist.

The intimate scenes in the film created a lot of buzz but Surveen says she has no qualms about doing erotic scenes as she feels it is part of the profession.

"I have no inhibitions in doing intimate scenes. I am comfortable because romance is my favourite genre. I don't take those scenes as something out-of-the-box. It is equally tough or easy as any emotional scene in a film could be. When I am in this profession, then I have no issues about doing intimate scenes or donning a bikini," she said.

Surveen quit the small screen in 2010 after doing daily soaps like Kahin Toh Hoga, Kasauti Zindagi Ki, Kaajal.

The actress said her friendship with co-star Jay from her TV days helped her to shed her nervousness.

"As I am a fresher, I was nervous in the beginning about doing such scenes but it went away in one minute. Jay is a brilliant costar to work with. We know each other for a very long time and that was comfortable. It helped us build a certain chemistry onscreen," she said.

Poshter Boyz, directed by Sameer Patil, is set to release on August 1.

Karan Kundra: I aim to compete with Varun, Sidharth

Kitni Mohabbat Hai star Karan Kundra is now worried about being compared to other TV actors entering Bollywood and rather aims to compete with Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra.

Karan, 29, who made his Bollywood debut with Vikram Bhat's Horror Story, feels there is no contest between him and his contemporaries on TV.

"I don't feel any competition with TV actors because I am already at par with them. In fact, I want to make myself able enough to compete with the Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in the industry. That's my aim," Karan said.

The small screen has seen many of its popular faces like Sushant Singh Rajput, Jay Bhanushali and Sidharth Shukla transitioning to Bollywood in recent times.

Karan, however, says he will continue to juggle between the two mediums.

The actor, who was last seen on TV in reality show Gumraah, is returning to fiction with a love story Fannah, where he plays the role of a vampire. He will also be seen in Dil Phire.

"This is a cool show and the role is very real. The time is of real characters, no one wants to watch nice and good people. My role has negative shades and is more relatable," he said.

The MTV show is a finite series of six months and might have more seasons if the first one works.

The actor, who is currently shooting for a Punjabi film, finds the concept of fixed duration shows great and thinks daily soaps are not cool anymore.

"Fannah is not a daily soap. Daily soaps are uncool and hectic. I like having time for myself. Actors on TV don't have a life, they only work, this is something I can't do and as I also do films, a finite series is manageable for me," he said.
