'Sex exists. Dear India, deal with it'

Here's what your favourite Bollywood celebrities are tweeting.

Several Bollywood celebrities took to Twitter to express their disagreement over Health Minister Harsh Vardhan's statement that sex education should be banned in schools and that fidelity in marriage was better than use of condoms to prevent AIDS. Here's what they said:

Chetan Bhagat: 'Highly disturbed and disappointed by statements by a doctor health minister banning sex ed in schools. BJP at its regressive worst. Schools shouldn't teach sex-ed. Parents won't talk about it. In the era of Internet, kids should learn about sex from porn clips I guess? These self-styled custodians of Indian culture, which often implies an anti-pleasure, anti-sex, anti-fun culture are actually anti-freedom. Youth backed the BJP this time to take India forward and open minds. Not to bring out their worst, backward and most outdated ideas. Sex exists. Dear India, deal with it. Can imagine the BBC and CNN broadcasting, doctor health minister in India bans sex-ed in schools. Really shows us as a progressive nation. Public opinion can keep the government on track. A govt cannot be always right, but they can course correct based on public response.'

Esha Gupta: 'Someone pls tell #HarshVardhan that values r ok,but even his parents had sex to have him, unless testtube.calm down with your stupidity pls.'

Shruti Seth: 'For a country with a 1.6 bn population we clearly are not offended by sex. Banning sex education is sheer idiocy.'

Vir Das: 'I agree with the Health Minister. We don't need to learn about sex in schools, watching it on phones in parliament is so much better.'

Shekhar Kapur: 'Urban kid's developing puberty by 9. Important 2 help them understand changes in their bodies/mind thru education.'

Farah Khan Ali: 'Why is the health minister making such a hoo haa about sex not sex education. ? Doesnt he know it's the need of the day??? And for those ignorant ppl out here who imagine that sex education is lessons in love making sorry to disappoint ur moronic thoughts. Saying all of that it is imperative to have sex education classes in school from a certain age to prevent unwanted pregnancy's & diseases.'
