Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha is a striking young woman at the peak of her career.

Which should ideally mean that she is doing exciting work and is a worthy role model for her generation.

Unfortunately, that's not always so.

She may be proving instrumental in making voluptuous women acceptable in popular culture again but unwittingly has emerged as a symbol of everything that is wrong with Hindi films.

Here are seven things this young star actress needs to stop doing immediately!

Play regressive characters

Well, that'd be a start.

Ever since her big debut with Dabangg in 2010, the actress has achieved little in terms of range of acting and characters she's portrayed on screen.

Her onscreen characters -- from Dabangg to R... Rajkumar -- are feeble-minded damsels-in-distress who don't mind being relegated to the background while the 'hero,' with a typical sense of entitlement, dominates most of the film.

And we thought we'd left the 1990s far behind.

Wearing unimaginative/unflattering clothes

With regressive characters and an unconventional body comes a big challenge of finding innovative ways to dress up.

With a barrage of generic saris, salwar kameezs, braids and all-round unpredictable clothes, Sonakshi (and her stylists) have achieved little in the costumes department.

Who says voluptuous girls can't have fun with fashion?

Item numbers just because everybody else is doing one

Let's face it.

She may be a good actress but she's hardly stood out in the few item numbers she's appeared in.

We've got proof.

Working with much older actors

There's nothing particularly wrong with it.

Unless, you've been at it for the most part of your career and mostly because actors of a certain vintage control box office fates of the films they star in.

It'd be interesting to see her do more films with actors her age, like Lootera (Ranveer Singh) and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara! (Imran Khan).

Doing a dozen movies a year

Okay we kid.

But five movies in a year? After her 2010 debut, the actress was seen in Rowdy Rathore, JokerOMG -- Oh My God!Son Of Sardaar and Dabangg 2 in 2012.

While she had two consecutive weekend releases -- Bullett Raja on November 29 and R... Rajkumar on December 6 this year, we also saw her in a Boss item number, another guest appearance in Himmatwala, and lead roles in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara! and Lootera.

Maybe someone should tell her that overexposure is a thing nowadays and that it's quite a dampener, especially in showbiz.

Claiming that she'll never wear a bikini and then do this

Remember the time when Sonakshi, quite determinedly, said that she'd never wear a bikini.

Well, as far as we're concerned, this shot from R... Rajkumar of the actress is an onscreen equivalent of a bikini moment.

What's next? A car wash in an anarkali?

Giving in to extreme airbrushing on magazine covers

We all know just how much photoshop skills have been applied on this particular magazine cover.

It sends out the wrong message to youngsters about body image and self-confidence.

It'd be a great service to her fans if she categorically asked for no or little airbrushing on her pictures.
