Here's an inside view of the actress's spacious home.

Television actress Giaa Manek, who rose to fame as the submissive and overly religious Gopi on Saath Nibahana Saathiya, lived in the far off district of Thane in her struggling days.

Thanks to a hugely successful stint on television and her judicious use of the money that poured in, the 28-year-old actress was able to buy her dream home in a posh neighbourhood in Malad, a western Mumbai suburb, a little over a year ago.

Giaa takes us on a tour of her two-bedroom apartment.

According to the petite television star, buying her dream home has been the biggest achievement of her life.

"I saved money during the last five years, because I wanted to invest in better things," she says excitedly.

Walking us through her living room, Giaa says, "I wanted to keep my living room simple and classy. So I used only white, black and grey.

"For the television set, I did a lot of research online as I did not want to go for the typical glass unit. where we stack things and don't clean it for ages.

"Instead, I chose an L-and-reverse-shaped wall unit where I could display my awards along with the television set."

According to the actress, the place is not noisy, as it doesn't face the road.

"I made sure that the house I chose was well connected so it would save me a lot of time on daily commutes. My new place is close to the studios in Mira road, Goregaon and Juhu," she informs.

The colour red dominates her bedroom, as it's her favourite colour.

The television set in there also has a red unit.

Giaa decorated her house herself, with some inputs from her parents, instead of hiring an interior designer.

The other bedroom in the house, where her parents live, has been done in more traditional colours and is dominated by browns and off whites.

It is done up tastefully and is minimalistic like the rest of the house.

Giaa lives on the 16th floor, and the view from the windows isn't too bad.

Lord Krishna statues feature prominently in this actress's home decor.

"The idols are presents from my fans. It's really sweet of them but I don't know how they manage to find the address.

"Lord Krishna is my best friend and I have done most of my scenes with him on Saath Nibhana Saathiya.

"The tradition continues as I tie rakhi to Kanhaji since I don't have a brother."

Meanwhile, blue dominates the cooking space as it's her mum's favourite colour.

Some walls in Giaa's house have paintings of green plants that reflect the greenery she surrounds her house with.

Giaa also extols the virtues of installing mirrors in one's house.

"Mirror makes your room look bigger and every time you pass by, you can check yourself out too," she says.
