The Shivaji Park crematorium, in central Mumbai, saw a sprinkling of film personalities and huge crowds, as people came to bid the legendary villain goodbye.

Pransaab's body left the Lilavati hospital, in Bandra, a western suburb of Mumbai, at 10:30 am, and reached Shivaji Park half an hour later.

Crowds of people stood outside the crematorium, and shouted slogans like 'Pran saab amar rahey' and 'Jab tak suraj chand rahega Pran saab aapka naam rahega.'

Amitabh Bachchan, who wrote a touching blog post on Pran, paid a brief visit.

Shatrughan Sinha, who has worked with Pran in films like Vishwanath, Buniyaad and Gunahon Ka Faisla, said, "Pransaab was an institution. It is really sad that he passed away. I am proud to say that I got to work with Pran and know him personally. I'm blessed that I was guided by him. The film industry has progressed due to his contribution. On screen, he was larger than life but off the screen, he was down-to-earth, good natured and kind. My heartfelt salute to the last Mughal among the actors."

Raza Murad, who has worked with Pran in films like Kaalia, Chakkar Pe Chakkar, Chori Mera Kaam, Toofan and 1942 A Love Story, said, "I have worked with Pransaab in 21 films. The things I got to learn from him, I did not learn from anyone else. His best achievement was that parents are scared to name their kids Pran even today, just like they don't name kids Raavan. That was the fear he created in the minds of the people."
