And the Oscar goes to... Bollywood directors choose their best film

This year's Oscar nominations have been spectacular.

With some of the most talented people featuring on the contenders' lists across categories, it's tough to predict who will walk away with the biggest awards.

With just over a week to go for the big night, Bollywood directors share their favourite Best Film nominees and why they are rooting for them.

My Oscar for Best Film would have to go to Martin Scorcese’s The Wolf Of Wall Street.

It's  Scorcese's best film since Goodfellas.

People who have objected to the tone of the film don't understand it's the world that Scorcese has depicted that's squirmy, and not the way it is portrayed.

It's a world of corruption and depravity and the film goes at it full-on.

'I want Stephen Frears' Philomena to win'

I want Stephen Frears’ Philomena to win because I love that film the most out of all the contenders.

The titular character really stayed with me.

'12 Years A Slave beautifully portrays the spirit of survival against all odds'

Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave.

The depiction of the ordeal of a man unjustly sold as a slave captures a regrettable chapter of American history.

McQueen paints a heart-rending picture of that era. I prefer this human drama over the remaining nominees.

As a die-hard Scorcese fan, I'd want to see The Wolf Of Wall Street win. 

Gravity is another favourite because it is a rare exception in terms of the technical boundaries it has pushed and still strikes a cord as a humane story. 

Jean-Marc Vallee’s Dallas Buyers Club and Philomena are also excellent. You have successfully asked the toughest question of the year and I’m suddenly not envying the Oscar jury one bit!
