Akshay Kumar's 10 most UNFUNNY movies!

There's no doubting Akshay Kumar's skills either as a dynamic action star or ace comic. While action brought him to prominence right from the beginning, his unrestrained physicality and well-timed wit worked for comedies like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Singh is Kinng.

And so, naturally, one expected his latest Khiladi 786 to be an unbeatable combination of both his best talents. But with barely 10 per cent action to boast sprinkled around some lackluster humour, the latest AK vehicle is hardly whistle worthy.

Though there's little doubt about it making the box-office jingle and wrapping the year for the star on a highly successful note following Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore and Oh My God.

Meanwhile, here's looking at 10 of his most unfunny movies.

Joker

With its absurd aliens theme and lousy acting, Joker was so bad even Akshay decided to abandon it in promotional stage. Shirish Kunder's  neither imaginative enough to be a sci-fi or humorous to tickle farce generated strong criticism, which was decidedly more imaginative and fun than the film itself.

You can blindly bet on Joker to feature on every Worst films of 2012 list in the coming weeks.

Housefull 2

So what if it made tons of money at the box-office. Still, there's no way Housefull 2 qualifies as quality entertainment.

In this crowded second film of Sajid Khan's needless franchise, everyone from veterans to starlets contribute to deliver abysmal performances, daft jokes, excruciating slapstick and ear-damaging noise.

Thank You

A scene from Thank You
Akshay Kumar steps in to play a relationship expert to set Sonam Kapoor and Co's straying husbands back on track in Anees Bazmee's tedious, boring Thank You.

To think it stars one of the finest actors of this time – Irrfan Khan reduced to an annoying dolt? No thanks!

Tees Maar Khan

Illogical is fine. But at least compensate suspension of disbelief with some sparkling humor and quirk?

The reliably delightful sensibilities of Farah Khan is swapped for a trashy rehash of Peter Sellers' After the Fox written by her husband Shirish Kunder providing Akshay with significant embarrassment on his prolific resume.

De Dana Dan

A scene from De Dana Dan
The troika of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty along with director Priyadarshan have participated in many an enjoyable chaos.

But De Dana Dan tarnishes those memories with its overload of complex idiocy, ruthlessly trying its viewer's patience by doling out one dumb joke after another. A complete washout, literally.

Action Replayy

Astonishing how Bollywood picks up one of the finest Hollywood classics and reduces it to a star-studded sham.

Akshay Kumar-Aishwarya Rai starrer Action Replayy rips Back to the Future to create a retro seventies universe inhabited by loud, ill-sorted folk that is instantly silly and humourless.

Kambakkht Ishq

A scene from Kambakkht Ishq
Wonder how tired Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor must have been to sign up one of the most offensive films of their career?

Despite its opulent scale and shot-in-Hollywood imagery, Kambakkht Ishq's loathsome dialogues, sexist mindset and chauvinistic jokes do very little to lend credibility to the film's battle of the sexes theme.

Chandni Chowk To China

A scene from Chandni Chowk To China
There is nothing subtle about Chandni Chowk To China, which starts out as a comedy about a blundering cook and turns into an unpleasant vengeance saga with gruesome twists and turns only to turn into an unintentional comedy of epic proportions.

The over-the-top tone of C2C is so piercing; it's sheer torture to endure making it another timeless turkey for Akki to contend with.

Deewane Hue Paagal

A scene from Deewane Hue Paagal
After the droll Awaara Pagal Deewana, Akshay teams up with Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Aftab Shivdasani and Shahid Kapoor in the follow-up Deewane Hue Paagal, which generously borrows from There's Something About Mary to create a half-hearted bore.

Too many corny elements and subplots make this one quite a drag even for a lazy afternoon watch on cable television.

Ikke Pe Ikka

A scene from Ikke Pe Ikka
Even though Akshay wisely stuck to action in the initial phase of his career, the actor made an exception for the sloppy comedy Ikke Pe Ikka.

Yet to find his bearings as an actor let alone comedian, the Khiladi is super stiff in this boisterous caper about a man and his three good-for-nothing sons.  Unless you're keenly into so bad-it's fun, Ikke Pe Ikka is much too shoddy to gratify.
