10 Rishi Kapoor Films You Must Watch

On Rishi Kapoor's 73rd birth anniversary on September 4, Subhash K Jha list his favourite films.

Zehreela Insaan (1974)
Right after the gentle romance of Bobby, Rishi played a grey character who can only be tamed by his beloved Masterji (played by Pran, who played Rishi's stern father in Bobby).
This was the 1st of the many films Rishi did with future wife Neetu Singh.

Rafoo Chakkar (1975)
Rishi took up the challenge and dressed in drag -- along with Paintal -- in this unofficial remake of the Jack Lemmon-Tony Curtis starrer Some Like It Hot.

Doosra Aadmi (1977)
In this under-rated triangle, Rishi struggles to decide between his loyalty for his wife and attraction for his colleague.

Badalte Rishte (1978)
Playing the ghost from Reena Roy’s past, Rishi was a riot creating havoc in her marriage.

Duniya Meri Jeb Mein (1979)
Rishi played his uncle Shashi Kapoor's brother in this Tinnu Anand action-romance. Earlier, the pair played son and father in Kabhi Kabhie.

Aap Ke Deewane (1980)
In the year of Karz, Rishi was in top form as his real-life buddy Rakesh Roshan's buddy in this love triangle where both actors were in love with the same woman, Tina Munim.

Yeh Vaada Raha (1982)
Rishi starred in Ramesh Behl's desi adaptation of Danielle Steel's novel, The Promise where Poonam Dhillon has a car crash and ends up looking like Tina Munim.

Deedar-e-Yaar (1982)
How charming Rishi Kapoor was as a Muslim youngster besotted by Tina Munim, again!

Rahi Badal Gaye (1985)
Rishi got an opportunity to pair up with Shabana Azmi. The R D Burman song Ek Baat Dil Mein Aye Hai is the film's highlight.

Ek Chadar Maili Si (1986)
Rajinder Singh Bedi's short story of a widow being married to her dead husband's younger brother saw Rishi shine in a women-centric film, as he did throughout his career in Damini, Tawaif, Prem Rog, Henna and Saahiban.
