10 Reasons Why We LOVE Jennifer Lawrence

Twenty three-year-old Jennifer Lawrence is unlike everything Hollywood has seen in its eventful life.

Also known as J-law -- the hilarious monicker (a play on Jennifer Lopez's J-Lo) stuck after comedienne-actress Kristen Wiig introduced it at the 2013 Academy Awards -- Jennifer is humble about her achievements, refreshingly candid and witty in her interviews and vocal about her love for junk food.

AND she doesn't rest on past laurels.

Each day brings with it endless possibilities of being awesome in her endearingly goofy and thoughtful ways.

If you aren't convinced yet, take a look at the following 10 things about her that make her the most AWESOME thing that ever happened to Hollywood!

Please ...

The reluctant star

Few people may know that before the Hunger Games movies happened, Lawrence had auditioned for the part of Bella Swan in the Twilight films, which eventually went to Kristen Stewart.

When the Hunger Games role was offered to her, she was initially reluctant after having witnessed what the post-Twilight fame did to Stewart's life.

She was sensible enough to take three days to make her decision -- to figure out if she wanted to/was ready to handle the possibility of that amount of fame -- before she said yes to the film.

The ideal teen idol

Unlike Bella Swan though, Jennifer Lawrence's Hunger Games protagonist Katniss Everdeen is a worthy heroine and teen idol.

She exemplifies self-confidence, doesn't wait around to be rescued and stands up for herself instead of running away from her fears and problems.

The most fashionable tumble of all time

Can you imagine anyone else recovering from a televised tumble with good humour and a punchline?

Well,  J-Law took a brief fall in her voluminous Dior gown on the stairs right before she accepted her Best Actress trophy, had her private facepalm moment and made a little joke about it before her acceptance Oscar speech.

When she learnt that Hugh Jackman had rushed to help her get up before she regained her composure, she said, 'Say what you will, I was touched by Hugh Jackman!'

And before we could hit replay on the clip, that epic fall ended up in Dior's new ad campaign.

Lawrence is not in the least bit self conscious.

Her interviews are always peppered with quips, self-deprecatory jokes and legendary comebacks.

At the press briefing after the Oscars, she seemed a little spaced out before answering a particular question.

She giggled, apologised to the mediapersons and confessed, 'I just did a shot.'

Her new haircut

After oscillating between blonde and brunette (and black hair for her Katniss role), the actress recently got a pixie cut.

Just how adorable does she look in this new look!

Her take on body image issues

At a recently organised promotional event for her new film -- Hunger Games: Catching Fire -- the actress was asked a question by an audience member, which was reportedly from his daughter.

She'd requested to know what Lawrence thought of body image issues among young adults and how to deal with people who judge you based on your appearance.

Her response?

'Screw those people. I have experienced that in school. You have to get past it. You look like what you look like. What are you going to do? Go hungry everyday? That’s dumb. We should just stop calling each other fat.'

Her epic friendship with Hunger Games costar Josh Hutcherson

She's on great terms with her costar Josh Hutcherson.

They joke with each other, find it extremely difficult to shoot the bits in the film that don't have them together, know practically everything there is to know about each other and are generally really good at being very cool when they are together.

Her red carpet epicness

At the MET gala earlier this year, Lawrence was the only person to acknowledge the ridiculousness of 'fashion forward' Sarah Jesscia Parker's head gear, but in a good-humoured way.

While she photobombed the older actress while she posed for pictures, Lawrence also ran her fingers through the gigantic faux mohawk while the Sex And The City star laughed along like a god sport.

She's a pathetic fan-girl too!

When Hollywood legend Jack Nicholson crashed her post-Oscar interview, Lawrence couldn't help but gasp in total awe.

But she did hold her ground and told him jokingly that he was being rude.

Another time, at Comic Con this year, the way she quietly walked up to Jeff Bridges, ran away nervously and had to be brought back to meet him, was stuff dreams are made of.

The young actress had earlier said in an interview that (Bridges starrer) The Big Lebowski is her favourite film of all time.

Oscar-worthy

Lawrence is the first Kentuckian woman to win an acting Oscar since Patricia Neal for Hud in 1964.

AND when she says she doesn't take acting too seriously, she means it, as evidenced by this picture above.
