Syed Firdaus Ashraf is startled by the prices for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and and Shivaay tickets.

Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is creating mushkil for cinegoers.

Ticket prices for the film are as high as Rs 2,200 at some theatres.

A single ticket for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil at the PVR: Director's Cut in Ambience mall, New Delhi, will cost you Rs 2,200 (for the 11.20 am show) in the platinum superior section.

For the same show, you will pay Rs 2,000 for a platinum seat.

This means if a family of four goes to watch the movie, they will pay Rs 10,000 including the cost of popcorn, samosas, nachos and soft drinks.

At the PVR Ambience Gold in Gurgaon, a single ticket in the platinum superior category (12.30 pm show) costs Rs 1,600 and Rs 1,400 for a seat in the platinum category.

Down South, tickets prices are equally high.

At the PVR Gold theatre in the Forum mall, Bengaluru, a single ticket for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2.40 pm show) costs Rs 1,100 in the platinum superior category and Rs 950 in the platinum category.

In Mumbai, at the Big Cinemas: Metro Ebony Lounge, a ticket costs Rs 950 for the 3.15 pm show.

It was only last week that the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's Raj Thackeray 'permitted' (!!!!) the movie to be released in the state at a meeting presided over by state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Thackeray objected to the film's release because it stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

The MNS green-flagged ADHM's release after Johar promised to pay Rs 5 crore (Rs 50 million) to the Army Welfare Fund and also post a tribute in the movie's credits dedicating the film to the 19 soldiers killed in the Uri terror attack.

Single screen theatre owners in Mumbai are divided over the film's release. The single screen theatre owners association had decided not to screen the film over the Fawad Khan controversy.

Some owners have apparently now decided to screen ADHM along with Ajay Devgn's Shivaay which also releases on October 28.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil tickets are relatively cheap in Kolkata.

A single ticket for the film at INOX: South City, Kolkata, costs Rs 650 for the 2 pm show.

This means a family of four will end up paying at least Rs 4,000 for the entertainment if snacks and soft drinks are included.

Shivaay

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is not alone in selling high price tickets. Ditto with Shivaay.

At PVR: Director's Cut in Ambience mall, Delhi, one seat in the platinum superior category if you want to watch the Devgn drama costs Rs 2,200 (1.05 pm show); Rs 2,000 for a platinum seat.

These films' producers and distributors want to clearly cash in on the 5-day long Diwali weekend.
