Filmmakers Dibakar Banerjee, Anand Patwardhan and eight others returned their National Awards joined in solidarity with the protesting FTII students and against the growing intolerance in the country.

National Award-winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar criticised the move and wrote: 'In my view giving away the National Award is a disrespect to 1self & also 2 the actors, technicians,audience, jury members, & Hon. President.'

Anupam Kher tweeted: 'Some more usual suspects who never wanted @narendramodi to become PM in d first place have joined the #AwardWapsi gang. Shahid gets ready for Rangoon


Shahid Kapoor has started preparing for his role in Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon.

The 34-year-old actor posted a picture, above, and tweeted: 'Time to prep for #Rangoon. Miles to go before I sleep. Keep it real you all. And believe. Because you can.'

The film is set during the World War II. It will co-star Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut.

Nimrat Kaur heads to Jaisalmer

Nimrat Kaur is shooting for her film Airlift in Rajasthan.

'Traffic jams of the desert kind. En route Jaisalmer for the final schedule of #Airlift !! All on board,' she tweeted.

Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the film is based on biggest evacuation of Indians based in Kuwait during the Iraq-Kuwait War. It co-stars Akshay Kumar.
