Raima Sen: My grandma Suchitra Sen is much better

January 02, 2014 13:17 IST

Raima SenLegendary actress Suchitra Sen was in a serious condition after she was admitted to Belle Vue hospital in Kolkata on December 29, following a respiratory tract infection. Her grand-daughter Raima Sen puts all rumours to rest.

"It’s true my grandmom was very ill," says Raima Sen from Kolkata. "Like last year, she had a respiratory problem again. But she’s responded very well to the treatment. She is much better now. We should be able to take her home in a couple of days.

“For the past few days, I’ve stayed at the hospital. But now that her breathing is back to normal, I can breathe easy. All our friends are in Kolkata. So for Riya (Sen, Raima's sister) and me, all the happening parties were here."

Suchitra Sen, a legend in her lifetime, has not appeared in any film or in public since 1978.

Says Raima, “You should see the crowds in front of the hospital. It’s like the whole of Kolkata has turned up.”

Raima, meanwhile, will be seen in a film with mother Moon Moon Sen and sister Riya for the first time. Called Kolkata Calling, the Bengali film has been directed by Mainak Bhowmick.

The two sisters have acted together in Rituparno Ghosh’s Nauka Dubi.
