PIX: Sonakshi, Vidya at the Global Citizen Festival

Bollywood events usually *never* start on time but the Global Citizen India festival wasn't one, and so started right on schedule!
 
Held at the MMRDA grounds in suburban Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai on November 19, the event was a memorable one.

A look at the pictures.

The show was kickstarted by Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra.

Arijit Singh performed next. He started with the title track of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and warmed up the crowd.
 
National award winner Monali Thakur came up next. She sang Moh Moh Ke Dhage from Dum Laga Ke Haisha and also Iktaara from Wake Up Sid.

 

Sonakshi Sinha, seen here with Vidya Balan, sang on stage.

Sonam Kapoor has been lucky enough to feature in a Coldplay video -- Hymn For The Weekend.

Ananya Birla performed her newly-launched single Livin' The Life at the show
.

 

Sonakshi's mum Poonam arrives to support her star daughter.

Shankar Mahadevan, seen here with wife Saangeeta, performed at the show with his bandmates Ehsaan Norani and Loy Mendonsa.

They sang Har Ghadi Badal Rahi Hai from Kal Ho Naa HoSuno Gaur Se Duniya Walon from Dus and also their hit single Breathless, which actually left the audience breathless!

 

Shraddha Kapoor sang on stage as well but she didn't quite live up to the expectations of the crowd. She sang Tere Mere Dil from Rock On!! 2 and Galliyan from Ek Villian
 

Alia Bhatt throws the media a kiss before she heads in to perform. 


 

Farhan Akhtar seemed to be a crowd favourite.

He sang songs from Rock On! -- Simba The Sailor and the title traack -- as well as a song from Wazir.

He also sang a song with Amitabh Bachchan called Atrangi Yaari

 

After every performance, celebrities like Dia Mirza and Freida Pinto would talk about social issues like gender equality, sanitation and why menstruation isn’t a disease.
 

Shah Rukh Khan, always a hit with people, makes his way in.

A R Rahman performed songs like the Dil Se title track and Humma Humma and left the crowds spellbound.
 

British pop band The Vamps seemed quite pleased to perform in front of such a huge crowd; they claimed it was the biggest crowd they had ever performed for.
 
 

Ranveer Singh gave an energetic performance to his Befikre songs, Ude Dil Befikre and Nashe Si Chad Gayi, followed by the Bajirao Mastani song, Malhari

When Sachin Tendulkar walked on stage to talk about social issues, the crowds went crazy.

They kept chanting 'Sachin, Sachin' and didn't stop when when he spoke.

Malaika Aarora Khan is driven in.

Malaika's sister Amrita arrives with husband Shakeel Ladak (right). Zayed Khan with wife Mallika also gets clicked.

Zayed's sister Sussanne arrives with socialite Anu Dewan.

Arjun Rampal escorts his daughter.

Vivek Oberoi, Anupam Kher and Aayushmann Khurranna at the concert.

Vivek and Ayushmann had met up with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin the day before.

Katrina Kaif arrives.

Sridevi and Boney Kapoor flash their excited smiles, as they get ready for the concert.

Sonali Bendre arrives with husband Goldie Behl and son Ranveer. Arjun Kapoor makes his way in.

Sangeeta Bijlani looks gorgeous as ever.

After waiting for long hours, the crowds finally got to watch Coldplay perform.

Frontman Chris Martin would keep saying 'shukraan' to the audiences for being so 'wonderful'  (thank you) for being such a wonderful crowd.
