R Balki's upcoming film Shamitabh stars Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan in her Bollywood acting debut.

Veteran music composer Ilayaraja, who crossed the 1000-film mark with Shamitabh, was felicitated by the film's team and longtime associates from the film industry in Mumbai on January 20.

The event also marked the music release of the film.

It was quite a sight to have Indian film industry's biggest stars -- Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth pose for pictures together at the do.

Kamal Haasan's younger daughter Akshara makes her Bollywood acting debut in R Balki's Shamitabh.

The film also stars Rajinikanth's actor son-in-law Dhanush and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles.  

 

 

Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (dressed in a bright Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla salwar kameez) turned up to celebrate the milestone with Ilayaraja and the Shamitabh team.

 

 

Ash is seen here catching up with Rajinikanth.

The duo starred in Shankar's 2010 hit Enthiran.

 

 

Boney Kapoor and his actress wife Sridevi were also in attendance.

Sridevi had made her acting comeback with R Balki's wife Gauri Shinde's much loved 2012 comedy-drama English Vinglish

 

 

Noted lyricist Gulzar releases the film's music with Jaya Bachchan and Ilayaraja.
