Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's father Krishnaraj Rai passed away on Saturday, March 19, at Mumbai's Lilavati hospital.

The funeral took place in the evening at the Vile Parle Seva Sansthan Shamshan Bhoomi in suburban Mumbai, many friends of the Bachchan family attended it to pay their last respects.

A look at the pictures:

Amitabh Bachchan arrives in a separate car.

'Death has but one end .. and words cannot define it ..!!' he tweeted.

Way back in 2003, Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya had a misunderstanding when he asked her to opt out of his production Chalte Chalte. They have since patched up, and he even put up a cameo in her recent film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil as her estranged husband.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali may be upset about the huge losses his film Padmavati is facing but he made sure to attend the funeral. Bhansali has directed Aishwarya in Devdas -- it was incidentally her first Cannes outing -- and shares a good rapport with her.

Bhansali is also close to her pa-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, directing him in Black.
