Meena Kumari role in his Rs 25-crore remake of Guru Dutt's classic Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam.
Kareena Kapoor is showing great interest in clinching the Waheeda Rahman role.
Salman Khan will essay the Guru Dutt part.
Manjrekar's film in censor soup
Mahesh Manjrekar's Pran Jaaye Par Shaan Naa Jaaye expected to release in March confronts censor problems. For one, the censors found several dialogues brazen and crude. Also, 50 per cent of Divya Dutta's controversial love-making scene has been chopped.
Pran Jaaye Par, which boasts of Raveena Tandon, Namrata Shirodkar, Diya Mirza, Rinke Khanna, Shweta Menon, Divya Dutta, Sushmita Sen (special appearance) in the cast, is the story of 49 families living in a chawl. It specifically deals with the lives of the women who struggle in this chawl.
The Southern lure
