Nargis Fakhri to play Sangeeta Bijlani in Azhar biopic

June 08, 2015 10:21 IST

Nargis FakhriThe casting of Mohammed Azharuddin's biopic, Azhar, is getting interesting.

While Emraan Hashmi has taken up the titular role, the casting of the women in the cricketer's life has been problematic.

Prachi Desai has been confirmed in the role of Azhar’s first wife Naureen while the casting of his second wife -- model-turned-actress Sangeeta Bijlani -- had been on hold.

There were rumours of Kareena Kapoor Khan being roped in but the actress apparently declined, as she did not want to play a living person, who is in the limelight.

Now, Nargis Fakhri, in the picture, has reportedly been penciled in to play Bijlani in the film.

According to a source, "Director Tony D’Souza and producer Ekta Kapoor wanted an actress who was also a model, and one who could be stunning, sensuous and appealing in a very classy way. Nargis fulfills all these conditions. She is on as Sangeeta."
