March 16, 2005 15:27 IST

The diner scene from When Harry Met SallyHollywood may have lots of mush, but audiences still can't get enough of romance that makes them laugh out loud.

Perhaps that is why the unlikely, irresistibly quirky pair of Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal have been voted Cinema's Best Couple in a survey carried out for UK retail giant Woolworths.

The pair topped the poll for their on-screen romance in the Rob Reiner-directed smash hit, When Harry Met Sally.

When Harry Met SallyA very memorable scene from the film, in which Meg infamously fakes an orgasm to hilarious effect in a New York restaurant, did the unthinkable: it beat Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart's partnership in the 1942 classic, Casablanca!

A Woolworths spokesman said the results proved the enduring popularity of romantic movies, and their on-screen

partnerships.

'The stars in these movies do strike a chord. We can relate to them and that's why they have stood the test of time,' femalefirst.co.uk quoted him as saying.

Others to feature in the list include Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, who paired in the breakaway 1990 success, Pretty Woman.
