A lowdown on all the goings-on in the Malayalam film industry.
Actor Ratheesh's daughter Parvathy Ratheesh will make her acting debut in director Sugeeth’s Madhura Naranga. She will play a Sri Lankan girl.
"Madhura Naranga is based on a true incident involving a Pakistani guy and a Sri Lankan girl. I got a message, where the story was given in detail. We decided to make it into a film," says Sugeeth.
Kunchacko Boban and Biju Menon, who became a successful pair after the big success of Sugeeth’s Ordinary, are playing the male leads.
‘K L 10 Pathu is about the ethnic flavor of Malappuram’
Four Malayalam films are set to release on the festive occasion of Eid, and director Muhsin Parari’s K L 10 Pathu is perhaps the most unconventional.
Saiju Kurup is seen singing a lullaby in the film's teaser.
"K L 10 signifies Malappuram, which is my hometown. Of course, I am not claiming that the film will show everything about the place. But some interesting and delicious local flavours will be there for sure,” says the young director, who shot into fame with a much talked about music album called Native Bapa.
Unni Mukundan, Chandni, Aju Varghese and Saiju Kurup are playing the lead.
Censor Board’s tough stance creates a fresh issue
After the leaking of Premam’s ‘Censor Copy’ became a big controversy and the two-day strike by theatre owners created another crisis, here is a new issue for Malayalam cinema.
The Censor Board is refusing to issue certificates for new films.
This has resulted in a state of uncertainty especially for Eid releases like Madhura Naranga, Love 24 X 7 and K L 10 Pathu. The Mammootty starrer Acha Dhin has already been given a clean U certificate by the Censor Board.
The Censor Board is miffed by the reports that blamed it for the leaking of Premam’s copies.
Last heard, the directors of the new releases are trying to get their films censored in other states.
