Nearly 100 films from 40 countries will be screened during the sixth International Film Festival in Mumbai organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Images from November 20 to November 27.

The festival will include a selection of films produced between 2001 and 2003, capturing the latest trends in international cinema, say the organisers of the festival.

Under the Retrospective section, works of eminent film personalities who have contributed to the enrichment of film culture -- Indian and international -- will be screened.

The Film India Worldwide section will showcase films created by and for Indians living overseas, while the Filmmakers In Focus section will screen films of two renowned contemporary directors.

The festival will also include the FIPRESCI Award. FIPRESCI, which stands for Federation de la Presse Cinematographique Internationale, is the international federation of film critics.

Three international critics will be on the panel to adjudge this year's FIPRESCI Award at MAMI.

There will also be a Lifetime Achievement Award, decided by a selected committee of the Mumbai Academy trustees, for outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.

The highlights of the festival are: the Special Jury Award with a cash prize of Rs 75,000 [approximately US $1,640] for Best Film or an individual's artistic contribution to a film, and the Best Film Award, which will go to the director and producer of a film, with cash prizes of Rs 1 lakh [US $2185] and Rs 75,000, respectively.

There will also be an open discussion on films, seminars, and film exhibitions called 'Chauraha' (Hindi for crossroads) at the festival.
