Malayalam actor Jagathy Sreekumar recovering

Jagathy SreekumarActor Jagathy Sreekumar, one of the busiest artistes in Malayalam cinema, is currently recovering from a car accident.

His car hit a road divider on March 10 at Panambra near the Calicut University campus and both he and the driver had to be rushed to a hospital in Kozhikode, Kerala.

He is said to be out of danger but it may take some time before he can resume shooting. Jagathy is part of at least 10 projects right now, which are at the various stages of completion.

He had completed some days of shooting in Dubai for Lal Jose' Diamond Necklace. In fact, he was on his way from Thrissur, the location of M Padmakumar's Thiruvambady Thampan, to Mercara, where the shooting of Lenin Rajendran's Idavappathi is going on, when the accident occurred.

He recently completed shooting for the Mohanlal starrer Grandmaster, directed by B Unnikrishnan.

Though he is usually regarded as a comedian, he has proved his brilliance in several character roles.

He has done more than 1,000 significant roles in his career, ranging from comic roles in films like Kilukkam, Thalavattam, Meesa Madhavan, Hallo, Ulladakkam, Moonnampakkam, Innale, Classmates and many others, to serious ones in Paradesi, Raamanam, Nizhalkkuthu and Vaasthavam.  

Jagathy Sreekumar was also involved in theatre and gave a fresh lease of life to the legendary drama troupe Kalanilayam.

The film industry and lakhs of fans of the actor are eagerly awaiting his return to acting.
