Lady Gaga: The sights in India are beautiful

October 28, 2011 18:22 IST

Lady GagaInternational pop star Lady Gaga arrived in New Delhi on Thursday.

On her arrival, the pop diva tweeted, "I am finally here + what a dream come true. Performing at Formula 1 in INDIA, and my first day here I reached. We're not in NEW YORK anymore! This isn't the #NewDeli, its #NewDelhi! We've come a long way since the lower east side. NAMASTE".

Gaga will perform on Sunday at the Formula-1 after-party, which will be hosted by Arjun Rampal at the Jaypee Greens Golf and Spa Resort in Greater Noida.

At a press conference held in New Delhi earlier today, the 25-year-old Grammy-winning singer said that she was looking forward to seeing more of India, "I am extremely grateful to the people for welcoming me here," she said. "The sights in India are beautiful but most beautiful are the people. I can't wait to come back here and see more of my fans."

Wearing orange and green highlights in her hair, Gaga seemed really excited about her performance. "I am going to perform some of my collaborations with Indian DJs. My outfit is going to be a hybrid of my vision and the Indian vision. I have modernised it a bit. There will be some surprises. I am very excited for you to see my show."

This is Lady Gaga's first visit to India, and a part of her tour to promote her latest album Born This Way.

"I am very proud of my third record album," she said. "This album is all about reincarnation and to able to reborn over and over again. The album was channeled through the fans and my little monsters all over the world."

The American diva, who is more in the news for her eccentric fashion choices and statements than her music, explained that her music is not influenced by globalisation of contemporary music as she believes in experimenting. "In America, it is hard for people to believe that a blonde girl writes her own music and plays her instruments too. I like to experiment and discover something new," she said.

Gaga claimed it was her family who kept her grounded: "My family helps me strike a balance. They keep me grounded. My life is similar to many people in this room today. I am just a girl trying to make her parents proud."
