'I just loved myself as the Chudail'

June 18, 2008 12:56 IST

Achint Kaur, who made a mark on television playing negative characters, dons a new look in NDTV Imagine's fantasy story, Raajkumar Aaryyan. Achint puts in a cameo as a witch, called Chudail.

The story goes like this: Chudail wants to become Raajkumar Aaryyan's princess. But for this, she has to perform witchcraft on 10 children. When Aaryyan reaches her castle, he tries to fight her magical powers but she overpowers him and makes him her slave. Raajkumar Aaryyan then has to save himself and the children from the evil Chudail.

Rajul Hegde spoke to Achint about how she got the Chudail look.

Tell us about you role and the look.

My character Chudail is a witch, who does black magic on children, to retain her beauty. It's fun to essay such roles on screen.

I have done such things before in shows like Aahat and X-Zone. I love to do cameos; they're so refreshing. I want to try different kinds of roles in different genres.

For the Chudail look, I put gum on my hair and kaajal on my teeth to look real. It took an hour to get the make-up done.

Did you get scared looking at yourself in the mirror after the make-up?

No. I just loved myself.

Achint KaurDid the children find your look scary?

The children were having fun. All of them were gapping at me like I was a stray dog!

You have done many negative roles on television.

I did only positive roles in the first six years of my acting career. It's just that I did negative roles for a particular period. It was just a phase. But I have done a positive role in Viruddh. I turned negative because that was change in the character's mind. Otherwise, it was a positive role.

Reality shows are the trend now. But we haven't seen you in any.

Reality shows don't excite me. But I don't have anything against people, who participate in them.

What next?

Right now, I am doing only Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
