She has been making waves for playing an unusual character in Michael Gondry's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind opposite Jim Carrey.
Now British actress Kate Winslet is in talks to star as the French wizard Fleur Delacour in the big screen version of J K Rowling's fourth Harry Potter book -- The Goblet of Fire. The films based on the first two books -- Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone, Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets -- were huge hits. The third Harry Potter movie, Prisoners of Azkaban, will hit the screens on June 4.
The first two films were helmed by Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Mrs Doubtfire). The third and fourth Harry Potter projects will be helmed by Alfonso Cuarón (Y Tu Mamá También, Great Expectations), and Mike Newell (Donnie Brasco, Monalisa Smile) respectively.
A snippet on imdb.com mentions that Winslet's filmmaker husband Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Road To Perdition) is coaxing her to accept the role. The website quotes Mendes saying, 'I told her to do it just for the kids. Mia and Joe (Winslet's children) will thank her in future.'
