'Being Lalita. When I thought of this story idea - I was sure her name had to be Lalita. Unassuming on the surface. But layers of complexity. Like us all.
The root of the idea is how we react when something doesn't go according to plan. When best laid plans go awry.
Do we internalise, keep up appearances and go on as if nothing happened?
Do we articulate the disruption and then adapt (unhappily or happily)?
Or, do we set our own counter plan in motion?
There's a little bit of Lalita in all of us. A fair bit of me , to be honest. That was the starting point actually.
Lalita also represents millions of those women who prioritise their kids, husbands over themselves and do it happily. The quintessential homemaker -- who is an institution in herself.
But what about her own dreams and desires? Even though she's conditioned to suppressing them, surely they don’t just vanish?
I'd love to hear from you. How do you deal when your plans are disrupted. Say, by an uninvited guest?
And about this thankless role countless homemakers play? ( Of putting every one and everything above them.).'
