Kajol returns to the studios with her new film, Eela.
To be directed by Pradeep Sarkar, the shoot will be held at the Yash Raj studio in Andheri, north west Mumbai.
A pooja was conducted by the cast and crew before the camera rolled for the first shot.
The film is an adaptation of Anand Gandhi's Gujarati play, Beta Kaagdo.
Kajol will reportedly play a single parent, and the story revolves around a mother-son relationship.
The movie is produced by Ajay Devgn and Jayantilal Gada.
Kajol was last seen in the bilingual film, VIP 2 with Dhanush.
